Professional Qualifications
Since 1999 I have completed three year-long training courses in counselling, psychotherapy and post-graduate psychotherapy at Spectrum, London (www.spectrumtherapy.co.uk). Spectrum is a member organisation of the UKCP (www.psychotherapy.org).
I am an Associate Member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) (www.bacp.co.uk).
I bring to my work over 3,000 hours of personal development and clinical training. My hours continue to increase, year on year, as I commit to continued professional development and personal work.
Areas of Interest
I work with people who face challenges; this may be to their health (mental or physical) or sense of well-being. Relationships, parenting, anger, anxiety, sexuality, depression and bereavement are all of interest to me.
I am a supporter of all aspects of family work; because I believe that our own experiences as we grow within a family will have an effect on how we relate to our community and beyond. I trust that when we have more information about ourselves and how we operate in our families of origin, we have the ability to use that information to our advantage and for the benefit of those around us whom we love.
I am also interested in health: how it affects us - not only if we are ill, but if someone close to us is ill; how we manage our anxieties or disabilities and strategies for coping with a change in our lives; these are some of the challenges we can face.
Personal Approach
I am most interested in the quality of the relationship between the therapist and the client: an adult relationship, based on respect and trust and dealing essentially with what is happening right now in a person's life.
I am interested in the person in his or her entirety. How did he or she come to be here? What choices does she or he make? How did he or she come to that decision? What works for him/her? I am interested in all of us and how we came to be all of who we are today.

I work on the premise that the relationships we create out in our world will be reflected in the relationship we create as client and therapist. So in my work I am most interested in how we - you as the client and me as the therapist - are relating to each other. Authentic relationships rely on truthfully reporting on thoughts, feelings and events and accurate, non-judgemental feedback one to another. This high quality relationship is what I am aiming for in my work with others.
